nescafe ceremony shoot

worked on the new nescafe bodypartner commercial with the wu shu-ing, crouching tigering around the bamboo forest. had fun building the bamboo forest though i loved how it looked when the bamboo still had leaves, it looked like a set for theater. had a wild time with the shoot and im happy how the ad turned out. im posting also the final tvc here

jollibee shoot

we shot a jollibee ad a few months ago for the new champ burger (1/3 pounds, bigger than a quarter pounder! haha). i asked the services of talented brothers carlo & angelo tabije to help paint a backdrop for the product.  they made me 2 8′x8′ panels in jollibee orange colors all in one afternoon. this commercial featured joem bascon eating burgers in the last 5 seconds of the ad. the photo above were those prepared for him to bite into. every take, they had to replace the burger with a new one.  after the shoot they were carted off… i dont know where. and i didnt even get to eat even a bit of bacon (from the bacon and cheese burger on their menu) 😦

say hi to luna

introducing luna

luna has been with me for about a month now. her bigger brother, juan the desktop, remains at home while luna and i go to meetings and presentations. both luna and juan are katipuneros, they live on 47L, ergo the names. and theyre artists more importantly. she’s a big help and it’s fun doing work on the dining table or in the bathroom instead of being stuck to just under the stairs where juan is. i hope juan wouldnt take offense that i do my work and play more on luna nowadays. ashteg.

project remote

love the set design i made for this meralco ad. this was actually a sequel to the butiki tvc meralco produced months before (see photo right).  director eric matti discussed with me that he wanted the living room to be textured, a bit like amelie (that french movie that rocked the world in 2001). of course considering that this is in the pinas, i figured we’d do amelie in balara. and what an exciting combination that was 😀

claim to fame

my friend ica just returned my jesus christ superstar dvd after a long time. we popped it on luna and watched ted neeley and carl anderson run away with probably the best performance of their lives. after discussing their singing on the movie, we decided to google up what they have been doing and found out ted neely is still doing jcs on tour. we ran up the video on youtube and well, im a bit perplexed on what we found. im not entirely sure i liked what i saw.

balay ni marc jacobs

love the look of marc jacobs’ apartment in france. simple, very classic and rather masculine for a reknowned designer (one would probably expect an armani or versace kind of frivolous extravagance in fashion gods’ homes, which jacobs is not). and i love the playfulness of the photographs with marc jacobs in it. the apartment has a bit of retro furniture, which i currently am into, and evokes a mix french and manhattan-ish feel to it. i thought his house is intimate enough and stuff like this drives me mad wanting to eventually get our own place soon, one that we can dressup and design to our liking. especially since my list of wants for the home gets longer every time. hehehe
