post christmas

back in manila yes for another year of slaving off and enjoying everything that life offers. i had a great christmas vacation of course, went home to cdo and visited bohol. was able to attend two weddings (cuzin ace’s with jing and idol butch with vida in bohol) and was able to eat from a total of 8 lechons. the christmas parties were all great and i was able to buy that big E.T. stuffed toy displayed for 3 years in ketkai.

when i was about to leave, the cagayan river flooded and overflowed, wiping out the homes of thousands of people living in the lowlands and riverside. my flight to manila was also cancelled that day because of the weather and i flew the day after. now back in semi-daily grind, im currently working on pon’s magazine layout while catching up on things i missed: 47L wi-fi, katipunan food fare, carlo and nuk. life is great.

will be posting more photos soon. for more padero pics (dec24), proceed here.

unique churches

forwarded mail from my dad. here are ten unique churches. cheers!

Ten Most Unique Churches

Harajuku: Japanese Futuristic Church
Photobucket
This futuristic protestant church is located in Tokyo and it was first unveiled by the design firm of Ciel Rouge Creation in 2005. The ceiling is specially made to reverberate natural sound for 2 seconds to provide a unique listening experience for worshipers and tourists.

Saint Basil’s Cathedral: The Red Square’s Colorful Church
Photobucket
The St. Basil’s Cathedral is located on the Red Square in Moscow, Russia. A Russian Orthodox church, the Cathedral sports a series of colorful bulbous domes that taper to a point, aptly named onion domes, that are part of Moscow’s Kremlin skyline.

The cathedral was commissioned by Ivan the Terrible to commemorate the capture of the Khanate of Kazan. In 1588 Tsar Fedor Ivanovich had a chapel added on the eastern side above the grave of Basil Fool for Christ, a Russian Orthodox saint after whom the cathedral was popularly named.

in september, the family came over to attend cuzin ej’s wedding and to watch christian in west side story. cheers!  photos were taken outside the meralco theater after the show. photos with christian (tony), jake macapagal (chino) and gerald salonga (musical director).

terminator salvation

the trailer to the new terminator salvation movie is out and the franchise still kicks alien ass! the series got a new shot in the arm with the casting of batman in the role. im not all that sold on this choice, mainly because christian bale already donned the batsuit. taking on another classic role like john connor might be detrimental but based on the trailer, christian bale makes a really strong john connor.

evolution of john connor

the trailer shows an environment of chaos and decay, war between men and artificial intelligence developed way before arnold became governor of california. im excited with what this new movie has to offer. obviously i and majority of my family are fans of the terminator series. we watched the first movie numerous times, even on christmases (and my titas would always scream when arnold appears naked with his thing swinging like a pendulum). i loved cameron’s treatment on the 3rd movie. not as big as the 2nd, but the story stayed true to the franchise.

terminator salvation is directed by mcG (charlie’s angels). watch the trailer here http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/terminatorsalvation/ cheers!  cant wait!

movie marathon

i normally wouldnt have the time to watch movies nowadays. it’s something i actually miss. we were movie freaks in college doing wednesday screenings at FA, running to greenbelt for the cinemanila, hobnobbing with indie actors at the CCP and stuff like that. i buy a lot of dvds all the time and download a lot of movies i never see (and i know there are more like me out there; raise your hands, kids).

after tuesday’s shoot and carlo being in cebu, i found myself all by my lonesome the last few days, which afforded me to not just update my blog but to catch up on my movie list. here are the stuff ive been watching and a few comments on them, in chronological order of watching:

cliff and marc

picture-2

SPOILER ALERT!!! this is from ugly betty season 3 episode 8. cliff leaves the office after marc tells him he slept with someone else and proposed to marry cliff only because he was guilty. im sad for cliff, he’s one of my favorite side characters in the show. gay couples on tv are always the big muscled handsome kind and it’s great to have this kind of offbeat lovable normal guy (kinda like knockedup’s seth rogen) who would make a great partner if only marc lets go of unrealistic standards (granted he does work in a fashion magazine) and see cliff for who he really is. ayayay.  tomorrow we’re watching fringe episode 7. cant wait

propel arnis no video yet

arnis-shot

we worked on this commercial. proud of the work we put in despite the fact that you dont really see the detail of the costumes (carlo’s blood, sweat and tears) but nevertheless, for this we proved to ourselves we can do something as wild as this. ill post a full blog entry when i have time.

sorry nobody has uploaded the ad on youtube yet so i have nothing to put up here. hope you caught this on tv though.
